Getting Started

How does the whole process work?

We have designed our process to be as simple and safe as possible. Here is how it works in 4 easy steps:

  1. Order Your Kit: Select the size that fits your photo collection (check out our All-in-One Digitization Kit or Express Scanning Kit).
  2. Pack Your Memories: We send you a sturdy, crush-proof box with a prepaid return shipping label. Simply fill it with your photos or film.
  3. Ship It Back: Drop the sealed box off at the shipping carrier. We track it every step of the way to our facility.
  4. Relive the Moments: Our team professionally digitizes your items by hand. We then ship your original media back to you, along with your new digital files (available via cloud download or USB/DVD).
When do I have to send in my photos / videos after placing an order?

You have one full year from the date of purchase to send in your kit. Take your time to gather and organize your memories!

If it has been more than one year:
Your order has technically expired, but you can still use your kit. Please contact us to pay a small fee to reactivate your shipping label, and we will get you back on track.

How long will it take to digitize my media?

Turnaround times depend on which service level you choose. Here are our estimates (including shipping time):

Good news: You don’t have to wait for the mailman to see your memories! You will be able to view and download your photos via our cloud service as soon as the scanning is complete, even before your original items arrive back at your door.

How do I choose between the All-in-One Digitization vs Express Scanning Kits?

The right choice depends on what media you have and your goals for quality.

1. Choose All-in-One Digitization Kits for Quality & Variety (Recommended)

This is our premium archival service.

  • What it covers: Everything. We accept printed photos (up to 8.5 x 11 inches), slides, negatives, video tapes, film reels, audio, DVDs, and more.
  • Quality Upgrade: Photos are scanned at 1200 DPI. This delivers 4x the resolution of our Express scanning.
  • The Verdict: We recommend this for most families. The higher resolution ensures your memories are preserved with enough detail for large prints, photo restoration, and future generations.

2. Choose Express Scanning Kits for Speed & Value

This is our streamlined option designed for standard snapshots.

  • What it covers: Loose printed photos only.
  • Size Limits: We scan photos from 2 x 3 inches up to approximately 8.5 x 11 inches.
  • What it excludes: We cannot process slides, negatives, video tapes, or albums in this kit.
  • The Verdict: Perfect if you just have a shoebox of standard 4x6 prints and want them digitized quickly and affordably.
Can I mix photos, tapes, and reels in the same kit?

Yes! Our All-in-One Digitization Kits are designed to let you mix everything together—photos, slides, negatives, tapes, and reels—all in the same box. To make this easy, we simply count items against your kit's total capacity.

1. How we count items

  • The Basics: 1 Printed Photo = 1 Slide = 1 Negative Frame.
  • Larger Media: Any item that is not a photo, slide, or negative counts as 50 photos towards your kit's limit:

1 Videotape counts as 50 Photos
1 Film Reel counts as 50 Photos
1 Audio Cassette counts as 50 Photos
1 DVD or Other Disc counts as 50 Photos

2. Example Calculation

If you purchase the Medium Kit (scans up to 500 photos), you have space for 500 photos. You can fill that space however you like:

  • Option A: Send 500 Photos (or 500 Slides).
  • Option B: Send 10 Videotapes (10 x 50 = 500 photos).
  • Option C (Mix): Send 5 Tapes (counts as 250 photos) + 250 Printed Photos.

Important Exception:
This mix & match flexibility is exclusive to our All-in-One Kits. Please remember that Express Scanning Kits are strictly for printed photos only. They do not support slides, negatives, tapes, reels, or other items.

How do I estimate how many photos I have?

How do I estimate how many photos I have?

Please do not count them one by one! That takes forever. Instead, use these simple "Rules of Thumb" to get a quick estimate:

  • The "Inch" Rule: Stack your photos up. 1 inch of photos is approximately 100 photos.
  • The "Shoebox" Rule: A standard shoebox usually holds about 1,000 photos.

Have a mix of photos, tapes, and slides?
It can be tricky to figure out which kit covers a mix of different formats. Use our Package Calculator to plug in your estimates and see exactly which size kit is right for you.

Can I send in more photos or media than my package covers?

Don't worry—you don't need to count every single photo perfectly!

If you send in more items than your kit includes, we will still digitize everything for you.

How pricing works for extras:
If you’re in between two package sizes, you can simply purchase the smaller size. This ensures nothing is wasted.
Any extra items will be billed at the same per-unit rate as the package you purchased.

We will email you an invoice for the difference, which you can easily pay online before we ship your completed order back to you.

Do you accept orders from my area?

We serve customers all over the world! How you place your order depends on where you are located:

  • Contiguous United States: You can place your order directly on our website right now.
  • Alaska, Hawaii, Military Addresses (APO/FDP/DPO), & International: We would love to work with you, but we need to set up a custom shipping quote first.

If you are outside the contiguous US, please contact us to get started.

Do you offer bulk discounts or handle professional scanning?

Yes, absolutely! Whether you are a family with a massive history or an institution with a professional archive, we have a solution for you.

1. For Families (Bulk Pricing):
We have built bulk discounts directly into our standard kit sizes.

  • The "Built-In" Discount: The larger the kit you buy, the lower your cost per photo. Our largest kit offers a significantly better price-per-item than our starter kit.
  • Overage Protection: If you buy a large kit and still send in extra items, don't worry! Your extras will be billed at that same low, discounted bulk rate.

2. For Business & Professional Archives:
We have the infrastructure to handle high-volume collections ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of items.

  • Archival Quality: Our Pro Scanning Services (utilizing Heidelberg Drum Scanners) meet the strict resolution and color fidelity standards required for museums, newspapers, and professional photographers.
  • Custom Solutions: We offer tailored workflows and special institutional pricing for large-scale projects.

Have a truly massive collection?
If you have an archive that exceeds our largest standard kit, please our institutional support department at pro.support@madebyphotos.com directly. We would be happy to discuss your specific needs and provide a custom quote.

Shipping & Delivery

What are my shipping options, and how much do they cost?

Shipping is completely free for all our digitization kit. We cover the cost for the full round trip:

  • Sending to us: Your kit comes with a prepaid shipping label included in the box.
  • Returning to you: We pay to ship your original photos and new digital files back to your home.

We primarily use USPS or UPS to handle your memories, though we may occasionally use other trusted couriers to ensure the best service for your specific location.

Where do I send my photos and tapes?

You don't need to worry about writing down an address or calculating postage. We handle all the logistics for you.

Here is how it works:

  1. Receive your kit: We will mail you a crush-proof box and all the protective packaging materials you need.
  2. Pack & Label: Fill the box with your photos and attach the included prepaid shipping label (it works just like an Amazon return label).
  3. Ship it: Simply drop the sealed box off at your nearest USPS location or schedule a pickup from your home.

Important: Please only use the shipping label we provide. If you use your own shipping method, we will not be able to link the package to your order, which effectively loses the chain of custody.

Will I get my original photos and media back?

Yes, absolutely. Once the digitization process is complete, we carefully repack every single photo, slide, and tape you sent us and ship them back to you. You will receive your originals in the mail, along with your new digital files on USB and via Cloud Storage.

We never discard or damage your original media.

How should I pack my items so they stay safe?

To ensure the best quality scans and keep your photos safe during shipping, please follow these simple steps:

  1. Prep your photos: Please remove all tape, staples, paper clips, and rubber bands. These items can damage your photos or scratch the scanner glass.
  2. Stack them up: Place your photos face-up in neat stacks. Whenever possible, try to group them by size (e.g., keep all 4x6s together).
  3. Pack the box: Use the sturdy, crush-proof box we provided.
  4. Secure the load: If there is extra empty space in the box, fill it with crumpled paper or bubble wrap. This stops your photos from sliding around during transit.

If you have any questions about specific items, feel free to contact us.

How do you ensure my media is safe?

Safety is our #1 concern because we know how precious these memories are to you. We use a multi-layered security approach to protect your items:

  • State-of-the-Art Facilities: Your media is stored in a climate-controlled environment with 24/7 video monitoring.
  • Professional Handling: We process items by hand using trained technicians—never high-speed automated feeders that could damage fragile photos.
  • Total Tracking: We use advanced tracking systems to monitor your shipment in real-time, from your doorstep to our lab and back.

With these measures in place, you can rest easy knowing your memories are secure every step of the way.

Can I change my return address?

Yes! We understand that you might move or need your photos returned to a different location (such if you’re planning a move).

Please contact us as soon as possible with your new address. As long as your order hasn't already been shipped back to you, we can update the destination in our system immediately. Include your order number and the new address (including phone number) to which you’d like your order returned.

Can you organize my photos into specific digital folders?

Yes, absolutely! We can work with you to organize and try to make sense of sometimes a chaotic arrangement of decades’ worth of family photos.

We will try to group them by chronology, important events, people and subjects, etc. This is a very time-consuming process, trying to act as detective for decades’ worth of people and events. But we will try out best. Please get in touch with the particulars of your case.

This is a very meticulous and manually intensive process which we are happy to take on. Please contact us with the details of your situation.

Yes, absolutely! We want your digital collection to match your physical memories.

Option 1: Standard Folder Organization ($0.05 / photo)
If you want your digital files sorted into specific folders (e.g., "Hawaii 1999," "Wedding," "Mom's Birthday"), simply group your physical photos before shipping.

  • How to do it: Bundle your photos using rubber bands, envelopes, or Ziploc bags and attach a label to each group.
  • The Result: We will create a separate digital folder for each bundle, so your files stay perfectly organized.

Option 2: "Photo Detective" Service (Custom Quote)
If you have a chaotic box of loose photos and don't have time to sort them yourself, our team can help. We will work with you to identify and group photos by chronology, events, or people.

  • Note: Because this is a meticulous, manually intensive process, please contact us for a custom quote.
How do I receive my digital files?

We give you two convenient ways to access your newly digitized memories:

  • Cloud Access (Included): As soon as your scanning is complete, we will email you a secure link. You can view, download, and share your photos and videos immediately—even before your box arrives back home!
  • Free USB or DVD (Included): Every kit comes with your choice of a free USB Thumb Drive or a free DVD Set. We will load your files onto the format you select and ship it back to you along with your originals.

Want copies for the whole family? You can easily add extra USBs or DVD sets to your order from our [store].

Do you recommend the USB Drive or the Disc Set?

Can't decide? You can always add both to your order!

Here is how to choose the right one for you:

  • USB Thumb Drive (Recommended): Best for computers and sharing. This is the most versatile option. It allows you to easily copy, edit, and email your files. Bonus: Many modern Smart TVs allow you to plug the USB directly into the TV to view your photos.
  • DVD Disc Set: Best for easy TV viewing. Our DVDs are formatted to play like a movie in a standard DVD player. They feature a beautiful slideshow of your photos with background music—perfect for sitting back and watching on the couch.
Can I order extra USBs or DVDs?

Yes! While every kit includes one free USB Drive or DVD Set of your choice, you can easily purchase extra copies for family members.

  • Pricing: Additional USBs or DVD Disc Sets are just $24.99 each.
  • Great for Sharing: These make perfect gifts for siblings or children so everyone can have their own copy of the family archive. You can add these to your order during checkout.

Supported Media & Preparation

What kind of photos do you support?

1. All-in-One Digitization Kits
Great for a mix of prints and film. We accept:

  • Printed Photos: No minimum size (up to 8.5 x 11 inches)
  • Polaroids & Instax: All formats
  • Negatives: 35mm and half frame
  • Slides: 35mm and half frame

2. Express Scanning Kits
Designed strictly for prints. We accept:

  • Printed Photos: Minimum size of 2 x 3 inches (up to 8.5 x 11 inches)
  • Polaroids & Instax: All formats

3. Pro Scanning Services
For oversized formats or professional archival needs.

We support specialized film, negatives, and slides ranging from 35mm and 120 medium format to ultra-large formats (11 x 14). We use German-made Heidelberg Drum Scanners to provide the highest possible resolution (up to 11,000 DPI) and color fidelity.

If I have both the negative and the print, which should I send?

We strongly recommend sending the negatives (or slides).

Here is why:

  • Higher Resolution: The negative is the "master" source. We scan film at 5900 DPI (roughly 50 megapixels), whereas prints are scanned at 1200 DPI.
  • Better Color & Detail: Prints are technically a "copy" of the negative, and they often suffer from chemical degradation, color casts, or paper texture (like that honeycomb pattern on old photos). The negative allows us to go back to the original image data for a cleaner, sharper result.

When to send the print instead:
The only reason to choose the print is if you have written important notes on the back (names, dates) or if the print was artistically cropped in a specific way you want to preserve. You can of course always send both versions.

Can you digitize items like documents, letters, or artwork?

Yes! We love preserving family history beyond just photos.

We can digitize almost any flat item, including:

  • Documents: Old letters, handwritten recipes, diplomas, and certificates.
  • Artwork: Children’s drawings, sketches, and watercolor paintings.
  • Memorabilia: Ticket stubs, postcards, and newspaper clippings.

A note on size:

Can you scan photos that are still in an album?

Of course! We are happy to receive albums directly. Our team can manually remove the photos for you to ensure they get the best possible scan.

Why do the photos need to be removed?
Removing photos from album pages is critical for image quality. The clear plastic sheeting in most albums causes glare and degrades the sharpness of the scanned image. By taking them out, we get a pristine, direct scan of the original print.

Is there a fee?
Yes. Because this requires extra time and careful handling by our team, there is a $0.30 per photo fee for album removal. This also includes the cost of shipping the albums to us, and returning them after scanning

Next Step:
If you plan to send in full albums, please contact us first so we can help you with packing and shipping details.

Can you handle "sticky" or adhesive albums?

Yes. We accept adhesive (magnetic) albums, but they require a specialized restoration process due to the aggressive nature of the glue used in these older albums.

Pricing:
Because these require extreme care and time, the fee is $2 per photo.
**

Important Safety Warning:
Our experts use specialized tools and techniques to safely separate your photos from the page. However, over decades, some adhesives can permanently bond to the photo paper.

  • We will try our best: Our goal is always to save the photo.
  • The Risk: In some cases, the adhesive may be too degraded to separate safely. If we determine that removing a photo will tear or destroy it, we will leave it in place to preserve the image.

Next Step:
If you have adhesive albums, please contact us before sending them in. We want to discuss your specific collection to ensure we provide the most accurate quote and shipping advice.

Are there types of media or content you cannot digitize?

We are here to help you preserve your personal family memories, so almost everything found in a typical home archive is perfect!

However, there are just a few common-sense exceptions we ask you to keep in mind:

  • Hollywood Movies & TV: We can’t digitize any commercially produced media (like VHS copies of The Lion King) due to copyright laws. We also can’t digitize any tape recordings that contain commercial media.
  • Adult Content: We do not process pornography, obscene, or explicit sexual content.

Don't worry—casual nudity (like baby bath photos, breastfeeding, or artistic figure drawing) is totally fine!

  • Politically Controversial or Extremist Material: Please do not send content that is politically sensitive, extreme, or promotes illegal acts.Violent, Controversial or Extremist Material: Please do non't send content that is extremist in nature, politically or socially offensive, or promotes violent or illegal acts.

The Bottom Line:
Don’t worry, these rules are just here to keep everyone safe. In all our years of business, we have never had a single issue with the family memories our customers send in. Not one.

What video tape formats do you support?

We support a comprehensive range of consumer video tape formats, including VHS, VHS-C, Betamax, Video8, Hi8, Digital8, MiniDV, and MicroMV.

  • Professional Tapes: If you have professional tape formats—such as Betacam, DVCPRO, HDV, and many others—please check out our [Professional Digitization Service]. We digitize a comprehensive set of tapes at broadcast-quality standards.
  • Other Media: We also support other home video formats like DVDs, MiniDiscs, and Film Reels.
  • Not sure what you have? Please visit our [All Formats Page] to see a visual guide of every media type we support.
What film reels and other media types do you support?

Beyond just photos and tapes, we can also digitize almost any legacy format you have stored in your attic:

  • Film Reels: We support 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm film reels.
  • Audio: We digitize cassettes, vinyl records, MiniDiscs, and Reel-to-Reel audio.
  • Discs & Data: We can migrate files from DVDs and CDs, as well as legacy data storage like floppy disks, memory cards, and hard drives.
  • Full List: Not sure if we cover your specific item? Please visit our All Formats Page for a comprehensive visual guide.

Quality & Technical Details

How are printed photos digitized? (Resolution & Specs)

We prioritize image quality above all else. However, the resolution depends on which service speed you choose.

1. All-in-One Digitization Kits (Highest Quality)

This is our "Archival Grade" standard. We scan every photo at 1200 DPI with 16-bit (48-bit RGB) color depth.

  • Massive Resolution: A standard 5x7 photo becomes a 50-megapixel digital image.
  • Incredible Enlargements: You can reprint your photos at 4x their original size while retaining perfect detail.
  • Files: Delivered as high-quality JPEGs. (RAW DNG or TIFF available upon request at $0.15 per file).

2. Express Scanning (Faster Turnaround)

Designed for speed and efficiency without sacrificing clarity. We scan photos at 600 DPI.

  • Great Quality: This is still double the resolution of a typical home scanner (300 DPI).
  • Perfect For: Viewing on phones/TVs, sharing on social media, and printing standard-sized reprints (up to 2x enlargement).
  • Files: Delivered as high-quality JPEGs.
How are negatives and slides digitized? (Resolution & Specs)

When it comes to film, we capture every tiny grain of detail.

We scan all 35mm negatives, slides, and half-frame film at an incredible 5900 DPI.

What does this mean for you?

  • Professional Resolution: A single 35mm negative becomes a 50-megapixel digital image. That is higher resolution than most modern professional DSLR cameras!
  • Ultimate Flexibility: With this level of detail, you have ample room to crop, edit, and print massive enlargements without losing clarity.
  • Deep Color: We capture images with 16-bit (48-bit RGB) color depth, ensuring vibrant, true-to-life colors.

File Formats:

  • Standard Delivery: We deliver your images as JPEG files by default. This ensures maximum compatibility so you can easily view them on your phone, computer, or TV.
  • For the Pros: If you want to retain the full raw data for advanced editing, we are happy to provide the original TIFF or DNG files upon request ($0.15 per file fee).
How are videotapes digitized? (Resolution & Specs)

We treat your home movies like archival footage. We do not use cheap USB converters; we use professional broadcast-grade equipment to capture the best possible signal from your tapes.

1. The Equipment (Signal Quality)

  • Broadcast Decks: We use professional decks with Time Base Correction (TBC). This stabilizes the signal line-by-line to prevent the "jittery" or wavy playback often seen with standard VCRs.
  • International Formats: We fully support PAL and SECAM tapes from overseas.

2. Resolution (HD Enhanced)

  • 1080p Delivery: By default, we professionally upscale your videotapes to 1080p HD.
  • Why 1080p? This ensures your videos look their best on modern Smart TVs and tablets. It provides a smoother viewing experience compared to the blockier original standard.
  • For the Purists: If you prefer the original, strictly native resolution file (720x480), we are happy to provide that version upon request.

3. Do you split the video into separate scenes?

  • Standard Service: By default, we deliver one digital file per physical tape. This ensures you get 100% of the footage in its original running order.
  • Restoration Upgrade: If you want us to manually watch the footage and split it into individual event clips (e.g., separating "Christmas Morning" from "Summer Vacation"), please add our Restoration Bundle at checkout.

4. File Formats

  • Standard Delivery (MP4): We deliver universal H.264 MP4 files. These are perfect for watching on Smart TVs, phones, and computers, or sharing via the cloud.
  • Pro Formats (Available Upgrade): For video editors, we can capture in Apple ProRes 422 (.MOV) or uncompressed DV / AVI. (Please request this at checkout; extra fees apply due to large file sizes).
How is audio digitized? (Resolution & Specs)

Just like our image scanning, we treat your audio as archival material. We do not simply "record" your tapes; we remaster them using studio-grade specifications.

1. The Specs (High-Resolution Audio)

  • Studio Quality Capture: We digitize all analog formats (Cassettes, Reel-to-Reel) at 24-bit / 96kHz.
  • Why this matters: Most standard labs capture at "CD Quality" (16-bit/44.1kHz). Our process captures more dynamic range and finer sonic detail, ensuring your voice recordings and music sound as rich and full as possible.

2. The Equipment & Process

  • Pro Decks: We use professional-grade decks that are regularly serviced for speed accuracy.
  • Azimuth Correction: Before we start, we align the playback head to match your specific tape. This restores the "treble" and clarity that is often lost when playing old tapes on cheap players.
  • Format Note: For MiniDisc, we exclusively digitize self-recorded (home recording) discs. We cannot process commercially produced MiniDiscs due to copyright encryption.

3. Do you split the audio into separate tracks?

  • Standard Service: By default, we deliver your audio as one file per side (e.g., "Tape 1 - Side A"). This preserves the original listening experience.
  • Restoration Upgrade: If you want us to manually listen to the recording and split it into individual files (e.g., separate songs or distinct voice clips), please add our Restoration Bundle at checkout.

4. File Formats

  • Standard Delivery: We provide High-Quality MP3s (320kbps) for easy listening on your phone or computer.
  • Archival Master: Upon request, we can also provide the uncompressed WAV files (24-bit/96kHz) so you have the perfect master copy.
What is DPI? And why is it important?

DPI refers to the number of dots (or pixels) on each side of the photograph. The higher the DPI setting, the more detail and clarity will be captured. This is especially important for preserving finely detailed areas like skin texture, facial features, and eyes.

Why "More" is Better:
We believe in extracting as much detail as possible now so the momentous task of digitizing your family’s story is not something you have to repeat—ever. This means having enough resolution for both today and whatever future editing or printing needs you may have tomorrow.

The Math: Megapixels vs. DPI
If you translate DPI into familiar "megapixels," the difference is massive. Because DPI multiplies both the width and the height, a 2x increase in DPI actually results in a 4x increase in total resolution.

Here is the breakdown for a standard 4x6 inch photo:

  • Typical Competitor Scan (300 DPI):

    Resolution: 1200 x 1800 pixels
    Total: 2.1 Megapixels
Result: This is the industry standard for most budget labs. It yields 16x less resolution than our premium kit.

  • Our Express Kit (600 DPI):

    Resolution: 2400 x 3600 pixels
    Total: 8.6 Megapixels
Result: A significant step up. Sharp enough for standard reprints and HD viewing.

  • Our All-in-One Kit (1200 DPI):

    Resolution: 4800 x 7200 pixels
    Total: 34.6 Megapixels
Result: Incredible archival detail. This captures massive resolution suitable for professional restoration and wall-sized enlargements.

What equipment do you use?

We use top-of-the-line professional photographic and cinematic equipment to digitize your memories.

Our lab relies on gear from the most trusted names in the industry, including Canon, Epson, Kodak, Fujifilm, Noritsu, Hasselblad, Heidelberg, and Nikon.

How we use this technology:

  • For All-in-One Digitization & Express Scanning Kits: We use custom-built digitization stations that allow us to scan your photos manually. This ensures your originals are handled gently and never forced through automated rollers.
  • For Pro Services: We use Hasselblad and Heidelberg Drum Scanners to push the limits of what is physically possible for film scanning. These legendary machines capture a level of detail and color that standard scanners simply cannot touch.
How large can I print my scanned photos?
  • From Negatives & Slides (Best for Large Prints):
For photo negatives and slides (35mm), we digitize to approximately 50 megapixels. This means you can print them up to 20 x 30 inches without losing any detail—perfect for framing!
  • From All-in-One Kits (Printed Photos):
We scan prints at 1200 DPI, which allows you to enlarge them up to 4x their original size. (e.g., A standard 4x6 snapshot can be blown up into a beautiful 16x24 inch poster).
  • From Express Scanning Kits:
These are best for reprinting at original size or up to 2x enlargement (e.g., turning a 4x6 into an 8x10).
What file formats will I receive?

By default, we deliver all your digitized memories as High-Quality JPEGs. However, because we scan everything using professional-grade equipment, we also offer uncompressed raw formats as a premium option.

1. Standard Delivery (JPEG) - Included

  • Best for: Most families.
  • Why? JPEGs are universally compatible. You can open them on any computer, phone, TV, or tablet without needing special software. They are perfect for emailing, sharing on social media, and printing.

2. Professional Formats (TIFF or RAW DNG) - Available Upgrade

  • Best for: Professional photographers, archivists, or editors.
  • Why? If you plan to do heavy editing in Photoshop or Lightroom, these uncompressed formats retain the full 16-bit (48-bit RGB) color depth data from our scanners.
  • Cost: Because these files are massive and require significant extra storage and processing time, they are available for an additional fee of $0.15 per photo.

Restoration & Photo Products

Will you restore, edit, or improve my photos?

Yes, absolutely! We offer professional manual editing and restoration to bring your photos back to life.

The "Human" Difference:
In contrast to many other labs, we do not use automated software to "batch process" your photos, which often makes images look unreal or machine-generated. Instead, our Scan + Restore service ensures each photo is individually edited by professional photographers to deliver the best quality and most realistic rendition.

How to Order:
To get this level of care (including manual color correction, dust removal, and damage repair), simply select the Scan + Restore Bundle at checkout.

  • Price: Just $1 per photo (90% off our standard rate!).
  • Note: For other complex restoration needs, please visit our Restoration Page.
How do I order photo restoration?

You can order restoration in two ways.

Method 1: The "Scan + Restore" Bundle (Highly Recommended)
With this option, we do both the scanning and restoration. You mail in your photos for us to scan at high resolutions, and then we’ll manually restore them. You get both the original scanned files as well as our restored versions. This option delivers the best possible results because we control the quality from start to finish.

  • Superior Quality: We scan your items in uncompressed RAW format at ultra-high resolution (1200 DPI for prints, 5900 DPI for slides).
  • Deep Color Depth: We capture 16-bit (48-bit RGB) color, which gives our artists the deep data they need to fix severe fading and damage.
  • Unbeatable Price: When you bundle, the price is just $1 per photo—that is 94% off our standard individual price of $14.99!

All-in-One Digitization Product Details Page

Method 2: Standalone Restoration
If you already have digital files, you can purchase a standalone restoration. Simply upload your current files, and our artists will do their best to improve them.

  • Note: For this method, the final quality depends heavily on the resolution of the scan you provide us.

Photo Restoration page

Can I use your restoration service on digital photos I already have?

Yes! If you have old scans or photos taken with a phone, you can upload them directly to our website for Standalone Restoration. Our artists will do their best to clean up and repair your existing digital file.

A Professional Tip:
If you still have the original physical print, we strongly recommend sending it to us for our Scan + Restore Bundle instead. This allows us to do both the scanning (you’ll send in your physical photos) and also the restoration work afterward.

Here is why sending the physical print is better:

  • Higher Quality: We scan at ultra-high resolution (1200 DPI for prints) in RAW format. This captures details your home scanner or phone might miss, giving our artists a much better image to fix.
  • Lower Price: Standalone restoration is $10/photo. When you send the photo to us in a bundle, the price drops to just $1/photo (90% off)!
