1,200 DPI Photos
Legacybox scans all printed photos at the standard “office document” quality of 300 DPI. Instead, we scan at 1,200 DPI. The resulting file contains 16x the resolution. This allows you to enlarge your photos without losing quality.
Why pay for package sizes you won’t use? Don’t guess or count how many you have: send everything to us first, we’ll sort through them, and only bill for the exact number after digitization is finished. Nothing wasted.
We treat your memories are more than boxes: see the difference 16x resolution makes: 1,200 DPI prints, 6,400 DPI slides & negatives, and 1080p HD videotapes. Your history deserves the ultimate image quality. Do it once, do it right.

Legacybox scans all negatives and slides at 1,600 DPI, which gives you 3.4 megapixel files. We scan at 6,400 DPI, which gives you 55 megapixel files. That’s 16x the resolution, and better than most pro DSLR cameras.
Legacybox only provides basic 8-bit (24-bit RGB) JPG scans, but we give you the option to receive your files in 16-bit (48-bit RGB) TIFF files. This captures all the rich color tonality of the original file, and is crucially important if you want to bring faded photos back to their vibrant original colors.

Other pigments deteriorate faster than red, which is why old photos have a distinct red “color-cast” to them. Our experts will adjust each color separate to make sure they magically become true-to-life again.
Physical photos inevitably accumulate dust and scratches of damage over time. These become especially visible when viewing the scanned photos. We can remove these distractions.

An excellent value for the quality of work you receive. The free shipping and high-resolution scanning make it a much better deal than competitors. Highly recommended.
I'm a stickler for quality, and I was prepared to be underwhelmed. I've used other scanning services before and the results were always just okay. This was different. The claim of 1200 DPI isn't just marketing fluff. The depth and detail in the scans are truly remarkable. I sent in a batch of old black and white photos, and the tonal range in the digital files is incredible. The price is more than fair for the level of quality you receive. This is the only service I'll be using from now on.
After cleaning out my attic, I found my late husband's collection of 35mm negatives. I had no way to view them. Sending them to be scanned was a leap of faith, but I am so unbelievably glad I did. It turns out they were photos from his college years. Seeing him so young and happy with his friends has been an incredible gift. The quality of the scans is extraordinary.
Free shipping is a huge plus. It made the decision to finally get my photos scanned so much easier. The whole process was smooth and the results are great.
The clarity of these scans is unbelievable. I compared them to some I had done years ago with another company, and it's no contest. Being able to zoom in and see the faces of relatives in the background of old family reunion photos is just magical. The whole family is so grateful.
I had a box of photos that were starting to fade and get that old photo smell. It's such a relief to have them preserved digitally now before they degrade any further.
I was nervous sending away my parents’ only wedding photos from the 70s, but the process was seamless. The prepaid shipping box arrived quickly and was very sturdy. The scans are just breathtaking—I can see the lace detail on my mom’s dress perfectly. We even had one photo restored, and the difference is night and day.
Customer service was very helpful when I had a question about my order. They were friendly and quick to respond. A great experience all around.
